My UME 2014 Experience.

Music. Lights. Dancing. People. Lots and lots of people.

I'm not the type of person who normally goes out, especially to South Padre Island during Spring Break.  I've heard crazy stories about Spring Break, so going never interested me. In an effort to be more social and outgoing, this year when my older brother asked if I would want to go to UME, I said yes.

UME, AKA Ultimate Music Experience, is considered "The Largest Spring Break Electronic Dance Music Event in North American History!"  Saturday night's artists consisted Brazzabelle, Sandro Silva, DJ Snake, and Zedd.

Whaaaaat? VIP? Yes, VIP.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous or scared about how UME was going to be.  Crowded places and huge crowds have never made me feel comfortable.  Luckily, I had amazing company.  Spending the day on the island on Saturday was the most fun I had without actually having to set foot on the beach and getting sand in unpleasant places.  Thanks to my brother, I also made new friends that I most definitely wouldn't have on my own.

Yes, I know the picture is blurry.  No, I don't want to use another one.

UME itself was the most intense, crazy, loud, and enjoyable experience in my life to date.  The VIP section had a terrible view a certain angles and not a whole lot of room to move around, but being so close to the stage was worth it. We made it to Schlitterbahn just in time for Brazzabelle, who was so much fun to listen to and watch. Her set was extremely dance-able, which was my favorite part to be honest.  Her hour set was the perfect way to loosen up and get adjusted to the crowd and the music.  Sandro Silva and DJ Snake were both a lot more "jump around", but definitely still enjoyable.  If it hadn't been for the slight delay between their switch off, I don't think I would've noticed when Sandro Silva finished and DJ Snake started.  By the time Zedd went on, it was around midnight and I was exhausted from the dancing. As soon as Zedd started his set, all the exhaustion disappeared. Zedd was extremely energetic, jumping around during his entire set. He's like the Energizer bunny, but cuter.  Even his visuals were better than anything I had seen.  Everything about his set kept me energized and ready to dance the rest of the night away.  By "the rest of the night" I mean until 2am, because that's unfortunately when Zedd finished his set.

Those visuals.

And those lights.

And Zedd.

Overall, UME 2014 was an experience that I wouldn't trade in for the world.  I'll never forget it.
